I will always remember what I was doing when this happen 18yrs ago. I will never forget.....and I pray you never will either.Brendahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10437697538617508065noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6606842960209489159.post-35087267930932151512019-08-01T16:20:00.000-04:002019-08-01T16:20:17.475-04:00Happy August!!!Hello everyone!!! WOW yes I am making a blog post. I know I have lost a few followers from being gone so much last year and busy this year too it seems. But I also did go through a tornado earlier this year RIGHT before we moved which didn't help our prepacking before the movers came.

I am moving our son back to Un. of TN, Knoxville later this month and will spend some time with our moms who don't drive anymore. I will hopefully get to spend some time with our daughter too and son-in-love a little while I am at home.

The house is getting there. We have some boxes left in the guest bedroom left to put away as well as the family room which is now our office as well. Our son got his room all unpacked the night we moved in. However, he did't have 26 1/2yrs worth of a house to unpack for one room either. As for my sewing room, yeah, I have done a little rearranging in there with our son's help but only 1 trunk unpacked onto a bookcase shelf and it was NOT that much unpacked. So needless to say, I have my work cut out for me when I get back from moving our son back to college.

After getting the sewing room all set up, I will definitely be in trying to finish Christmas ornaments for gifts this year. I don't have too many left to stitch which is great! Maybe I can squeeze in some extra stitching time while in TN.

Until then, I hope you are getting your Christmas ornaments all stitched up for gifts this year.

Happy Stitching!Brendahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10437697538617508065noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6606842960209489159.post-43164889790819236432019-07-16T12:39:00.002-04:002019-07-16T12:39:53.693-04:00YES.....I am still here.....long postYes I am still here. I have not posted since May but I have had A LOT going on. We went to TN to move our son out of his dorm, went to our son in law college graduation, spent time with family and left the day after Mother's Day to go back to OH. Since then, we experienced that bad tornado that went through Beavercreek, OH. That was a first for us in all our years, and I pray I never have to go through that again. We were very blessed that our rental house with all our belongings was spared. The house did sustain minimal damage but lots of trees down. Our neighbor behind us had a tree that fell onto our fence, and in our neighborhood along with severe damage just 1 block from us. We are just extremely thankful we were spared and the house was not damaged. Otherwise we would have had to postpone our military move to TX.

Speaking of our move, yes we did make a new military move to San Antonio, TX. We took the 4 days allotted to travel to here but did make arrangements to go see a friend of ours Change of Command ceremony one morning along the way. However, we were not able to attend his retirement later on that day because of time limitations of making our way towards TX.

House hunting was another story here. WOW!!! We were looking at rental houses and by the time we would get back to our TLF (temporary lodging facility), we would put our applications in to rent. However, 3 houses were rented before we could get the apps submitted. One house that we REALLY loved was taken sight unseen even though we were the 1st ones to look at it when it came on to rent. The real estate company's policy was that they took the applications in and it didn't matter if they had not viewed the house, but that the application was submitted first. After viewing about 7 houses, some I would have been ashamed to show if I was property manager, but that is their decision to show it or not. They were TOO FILTHY!

We did FINALLY get a rental house after 2weeks which was on June 29 but we couldn't get transportation to deliver our household goods until July 8. My poor hubby is having a longer commute than he wanted. But AT LEAST we are in a house now. I am just taking a small break at the moment from unpacking and hanging clothes and washing things that have been in storage.

I hope to unpack my sewing room some over the next few days to make sure nothing is broken and that my machines all sew like they are supposed to. I will unpack the rest of the sewing room after I take our son back to college in Aug. I will be flying back with him to spend 3 weeks back in TN. I will be helping my mom and my MIL out since neither drive anymore. No more doing a quick 5hr drive back to home like I had while in OH. Oh well. That's the life of the military.

I guess I have "rested" enough. Now back to unpacking and hanging clothes from my suitcase. Oh joy......

HAPPY STITCHING EVERYONE. I will get back to that here soon.....LOL!Brendahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10437697538617508065noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6606842960209489159.post-26165420787598014932019-05-27T10:02:00.002-04:002019-05-27T10:08:28.149-04:00Happy Memorial DayI wanted to take the time to celebrate and remember this Memorial Day for all those men and women who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Here is mine for the month of March. I did have some but not very much because I was sick a lot this past month. Thankfully I am on the mend, but I still have that nagging cough. Hopefully it will go away soon!
I managed to get a PS 2002 Santa stitched up for a Christmas gift this year. I haven't done the finishing because I have been so sick with a cold and chest congestion that has literally knocked me off my feet for almost 2 weeks. This is also the reason for me NOT getting my March Smalls posted on time last Friday.

So on to the actual picture for you to see my PS Santa. I hope to get him finished up into the actual ornament this week.
Sharon of It's Daffycat is our host for our TUSAL. And as you can see.....I am late in posting mine. I was supposed to have posted on Mar 6. I had gotten back from the Nashville Needlework Market in plenty of time to post it but in all honesty, I just plain forgot. I did not have it listed on my kitchen calendar nor my stitching calendar. Shame on me.

But here is my ORTs for the month of Feb all the way up til today. Now I get to add them to my bigger jar which at the moment still doesn't have too much from Jan and Feb.
Now I am off to stitch some as I want to get an ornament for a friend started for this year's Christmas present.

Hi everyone. Yep....I am a few days late for posting my Smalls but I had a very busy Fri for posting day. You can join our SAL by clicking on this link to Mary's Thread. We post on the last Friday of every month, and I really did mean to this past Friday. However I had some unexpected appointments to come up.

Here is one of the things I did manage to stitch up and get totally finished. It is The Primitive Hare Valentine freebie!!! I used 36ct Sassy's Fabric and a HDF Gandy Tangopremium silk to stitch it in. I filled it with crushed walnut shells to give it a little bit of weight.
I also finished a small for a Valentine Exchange that Sassy Jack's Stitchery organized. We were to take a Plum Street Sampler chart and take a portion of it to make in to a small. It could be made into any kind of small such as a pincushion, needlebook, scissor fob, etc. I used the chart Remember Me and took a small portion and made it into a small pincushion .... again filled with crushed walnut shells and chenille trim around it. I thought it turned out really nice.

Sadly, I was NOT feeling well on Monday so I did not do much of anything, let alone check email. Shame on me. But I now have it on my calender all the dates for my TUSAL posting dates so I won't forget them in the future.

I was gone a lot traveling last year so I am hoping to get back into the habit of posting on my blog.

Here is my ORTs for our TUSAL posting!!!
Now I am off to make some lunch and then settle in for some serious stitching today because we have 100% chance of rain scheduled to happen today. Thank goodness I have already been this morning to have my labs drawn and back home before this downpour settled in!!

HAPPY STITCHING!!!!Brendahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10437697538617508065noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6606842960209489159.post-15258470627780737732019-01-28T13:28:00.001-05:002019-01-28T13:28:48.994-05:00January Smalls.....Wow I really can't believe how I have not even posted a Happy New Year Post or anything else for this month. Now I am even late posting my January Smalls. I hope this is no indication of me being late for everything this year. So let's get on with the posting of some stitching projects!!!!

Mary of Mary's Thread has taken over the posting for our Smalls SAL now for each month. If you want to join in, please click her blog link that is highlighted or our Smalls SAL banner shown here and it will take you to her blog to see what to do about joining in.

The first project I am showing was a birthday gift, and it is a Stacy Nash chart that I made into a pincushion. I used most of the colors listed on the chart with the exception of the red color for the flowers as I chose something else to match the backing fabric. I love it so much I think I am going to stitch me one.

The next project I want to show you is from BBD For My Friend book. This was also another birthday gift!!! I used the colors called for on the chart but the box is bigger than what was called for the finishing. I liked a little more linen showing around the edges than what was on the design in the book.

And a side view.....
Heather of Stitching Lotus is our host for our monthly Smalls SAL. You can click on her blog name, Stitching Lotus, to find out more about this wonderful SAL.

I know I have been very negligent since my last blog post. I apologize for that once again, but I also went back home for Thanksgiving and then my husband and I did some traveling for our 26th anniversary!

But for that's for a later post to share pictures with you. For now, I am posting for our December Smalls post of some ornaments I made for this years Christmas gifts to close friends.

This first small is from Heartstring Samplery called Winter Snow. It was such a fun stitch, and I stitched it with the linen and threads called for. I made a small beaded hanger, and I chose to leave a little more space out from the stitching portion of the stocking. I have linen to stitch this one for myself for the new year.

This 2nd ornament is by Handblessings called Sharing The Christmas Story.

The last one I can not remember the designer's name. I am so sorry. This was also a Christmas gift for a friend.

That is all I have to share for my Smalls this month. I will be stitching the rest of the day today and ringing in the New Year with my family!

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HAPPY STITCHING!!!

The sacrifices are NOT forgotten and I will not take them for granted either. The service and your sacrifice and time are greatly appreciated!!! My husband is one of those veterans currently serving, and I know what he does for our country!!!

Heather of Stitching Lotus is our Smalls SAL host. She mentioned that she was late posting which was an added benefit to me for getting this little project totally finished up to share with you for my Smalls post.

This is SB Midnight Garden stitched and framed in their Crow tray. I have had this stitched for about a week now, but I just hadn't done the "finishing" into it's tray until just today. What perfect timing for it to be on Halloween none the less.

I did have some other smalls that I finished stitching this month but I forgot to take their picture as I wanted to make sure to get my Smalls posted so I can go enter it on Heather's blog. This will give me time to get some "finishing finishing" done on the other projects.

Sharon of It's Daffycat is our host for our TUSAL report. She was late posting the date, but I am late posting my TUSAL picture because I was out of town. Yes once again I was out of town. But it was a good time being out of town because I was at a cross stitching retreat.

Here is what I have for my ORTs. I have quite a few as I am trying to make up for lost time.

Now back to stitching today. I have the house to myself this week so I need to stay focused and on track for accomplishing a lot this week.

Happy Stitching everyone!Brendahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10437697538617508065noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6606842960209489159.post-70840707396009238642018-09-30T14:08:00.000-04:002018-09-30T14:08:33.486-04:00September Smalls posting....2 days lateWell it seems like all of my blog posting this year have been late. I should ask...why start now for being on time, but that's the wrong attitude that I was brought that way. So I am just going to go with it for now and publish my Smalls for September just a mere 2 days late.

Heather of Stitching Lotus is our host this year for posting of our Smalls and I know she would want you to check out her blog as well. I am sure she is like the rest of us....life happened and we just go on with it.

I managed to get 4 finished stitching this month....one being just hot off the needle last night. That would be JN Witchy's Sister Mouse. I hope to get her assembled this week, but when I do get around to it, I will make another post to share with you.

This next one is from Blue Ribbon Designs chart Small Tokens of Affection. I will eventually make this into a small pincushion and it is stitched on 28ct Antique White Jobelan using HDF premium silks. If you want to know the numbers for the silk, please leave a comment and I can go pull the colors again to tell you. I don't have them at the moment next to the computer. I stitched a 2nd BRD pincushion, but I can't show it yet because the person hasn't gotten it yet.

I needed a little finish for the upcoming October Halloween holiday. If you know me, I have NEVER been a huge Halloween person until one year I saw this wonderful "FUN Halloween Round Robin" project. So I collected all the charts to do one just like the participants of the Round Robin Well needless to say, that Round Robin became a long lost UFO that is still not finished to this point. Maybe I will pull it out and try to get it finished up.

Getting to my point of what I was getting at, I will now stitch Halloween pieces but ONLY .... ONLY ... if they are FUN type Halloween projects. So no scary projects will every be stitched nor hung i my house.

But I did fall in love with this little SB project called Spooky Sheep! Now I need your help! Should I frame it or just make it into a cut little pinchushion to set up to display. Leave a comment and tell me how you would finish it!

Last project finished this month was my PS Santa for my favorite Krispy Kreme clerk in Knoxville, TN. Needless to say, I have seen him a LOT traveling back and forth between OH and TN. So ... I would always bring back a dozen (maybe 2 dozen) doughnuts. Let me just say that most of that 2nd dozen was frozen once I got back to eat at a later time.

So continuing on with my tradition of giving Tim his annual ornament, this is PS Santa 2000. I hope to get this one assembled into an ornament as well this week. I foresee spending quite a bit of time in my sewing room!!!

That's all I have to share for now for my Smalls this month. After seeing all this on my Smalls post, I did get quite a bit stitched for this month!!

Happy Stitching!
Wow This is the first time this year that I have been able to participate in Sharon's TUSAL report!!! You can join in on our fun of collecting our ORTs to show what we have accomplished by going to her blog to see about it. However Ted was off last Friday I wanted to spend time (when I was feeling up to it) with him.

I didn't want to miss out on posting my smalls for the past month. Heather of Stitching Lotus is our gracious host for our Smalls SAL. I know I have been absent earlier in this summer months but I am trying to keep up when I can and post as time has allowed.

Here are a few finishes I have things I have managed to get stitched up. I hope to get the actual "finishing" here in the next few weeks.

This is Spring Mouse from JN Spring Mouse in a House chart. I know the date shows it for today's date but that is because I just took the picture so I could post it here. Guess I should have taken the date off the picture. I will try to remember that next time. This was such a fun mouse to stitch up for my birthday present to myself this year. (LOL)

This next finish is Erica Michaels Day 5 berry. The linen and threads used were what was called for on the chart.
Last is the LHN Farmhouse Christmas Horsin' Around which was the 2nd chart. I know I am late in keep up with this series, but it has been a wonderful "take along" project when I have been traveling so much lately.
That is all I have to share for the smalls this past month. Now to get started for September's Small projects!!!

Happy Stitching!Brendahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10437697538617508065noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6606842960209489159.post-19668498250348988222018-08-28T10:08:00.001-04:002018-08-28T10:14:19.780-04:00Son off to college.....I am so proud of our son being able to go off to college that I wanted to share a few pictures of move in day!!! Daniel is the last of our kids to go to college and as some now say we are empty nesters. But are we really??? Physically, yes but we are such a close knit family that we really are NEVER empty nesters. He will still come home at Christmas time and spring breaks and over the summer. Our daughter who is now married might be able to visit during the summer but that all depends on where we are stationed with the AF. She got a job teaching at Bearden High School in Knoxville after she graduated this past May. I hope to post pictures of their graduations in the next day or so and of her wedding.

Daniel is going to the University of TN Knoxville college which is the same college that his sister went to as well as Ted and I. He is taking engineering classes, and we couldn't be prouder of him. I wanted to wait for him to have a few days of classes underway before I posted about him going just in case he changed his mind after the first couple of engineering classes.

Here is move in day which I took from where I posted on Facebook because I didn't take my camera in when I moved him into the dorm. Yes....he was so much easier to move into the dorm as he said he didn't want to take much ..... unlike his sister who I think took her entire bedroom. (I can't complain on that as I took a lot to my dorm when I lived there as well. I just want to say I am NOT complaining about moving Grace in and out with all her stuff.) One unique thing is that both of our kids will have lived in the same dorm that I lived in when I went to UTK (Univ of TN Knoxville).

I am sorry about the messed up comforter for his bed. It WAS straightened when he and I made the bed, but he had to climb back up there to put his clock on top of the closet after we found it. Now whether it stays straightened throughout the semester.....that's on Daniel to look at it everyday...not me. Hopefully I have taught him well enough to make his bed everyday.

This last picture of Daniel and Grace last Friday night. She came to have dinner with him along with Grace's husband, Esteban, who is a Senior and an architect major there at UTK. But for some reason he wasn't in the picture. I am SO THANKFUL Daniel and Grace are so close even though they are 5yrs apart in age. They like hanging out with each other which Ted and I have always said we have felt so blessed by this!!

Wow!!! Yes can it be?? I am FINALLY able be back to blogging and to make a Smalls Post. Our Smalls SAL is hosted by Heather of Stitching Lotus which you can click on her blog name to see what everyone has been stitching lately. I did get the email where I could have included my past 3 months of Smalls project. However, due to certain situations, I never got back to posting my smalls on Heather's SAL but that is ok.

Here are the 2 smalls I managed to get stitched for this month. I am still working on our daughter's graduation present which I can't post ANY pictures of it whatsoever. It's still a surprise and she knows it will be late.

The first one is Erica Michaels Day 4 berry. I used the fabric and floss called for on the chart.

The 2nd smalls that I stitched this month is Erica Michaels Sweet Freedom Berry. I used 35ct Natural linen with Hand Dyed Fibers regular silk in the following colors: White 5200, Rubbed Darkest Mermaid, Yellow Spice 4165, Examplar Cocoa Bear, Zebra Dove 5249, Rubbed Sampler Red, BeLeaved, and Burnished Bronze.

The "finishing" work of actually assembling these into the actual berry form will take place here soon and pictures will follow then.

It is SO WONDERFUL to be back to blogging. I have had so much to happen this year that blogging just had to take a hiatus on my part.

I look forward to sharing more pictures of my stitching and family.....especially some wedding pictures of our daughters recent wedding, both kids graduations and more family pictures.

Happy Stitching Everyone!!!

I just wanted to post a Happy Mother's Day to my mom, my sister, my mom friends and all the other Moms out there!!! It was great spending more time with her over this Mother's Day weekend while I was already in town for our daughter's graduation from college. I will post about that tomorrow!

I was going to post a picture of my mom that I took this morning but being tired at the moment, the drive home, the constant busyness of life lately if you know what has been going on, I am too tired to figure out how to get the picture from my Facebook page to my blog post. You can see our picture on my Facebook page.

I'm off to stitch the rest of the night away! I am SOOOOO NEEDING some serious stitching time!

Happy Stitching and Happy Mother's Day!!!Brendahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10437697538617508065noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6606842960209489159.post-27696843592259141942018-04-03T14:39:00.001-04:002018-04-03T14:39:12.562-04:00Mar Smalls SAL

Heather of Stitching Lotus is our host for our Smalls SAL. I know I am several days late from the March posting date, but most of you have read on my blog that I have been extremely busy helping my mom after the passing of my dad.

Now....here is what I have managed to stitch while helping my mom.

Erica Michael's Partidge Berry is only stitched as I didn't have my finishing supplies with me.

LHN Little Red Barn was my 2nd finish for March.

Hopefully this week or next while I am still at home I can get around to actually doing the "finishing work" on these 2 projects.

Happy Stitching everyone!
