JN SAL post......

Today is the day we post our JN stitched projects for our JN SAL.  You can read more about Zeb hosting this monthly JN SAL at the link above or here on Keep Calm & Cross Stitch.

I am trying to stitch up some UFOs myself, and I happened to find this JN Horrified that I had started a while ago.  So.....to add to my progress of getting my UFOs down to a manageable stack and projects that I still want to complete, I finished stitching this cute little whimzi.  I don't normally get into Halloween.  In fact, it has to be a "fun type project" to stitch for Halloween if I am going to stitch something Halloween at all.  I DON'T DO SCARY HALLOWEEN PROJECTS.   Nope.....not gonna stitch it if it's scary looking.  So I will only fun projects.

This little whimzi will add to my stash of finished whimzi's.  I present.....JN Horrified.

I do apologize for the dim looking photo.  I took it in my sewing room with the light on and the window blinds open.  Nothing helped with making it look lighter in the picture.  I hope you can see it just fine.

Now ..... back to my normal stitching this afternoon!!!  I am trying to play catch up in another SAL that I'm doing.  I hope to share pictures of that SAL later on this week.

Happy Stitching!

TUSAL repost.....a day late....

Ok....so I'm a day late.  But better late than no report at all.  I looked wrong on my calendar yesterday and just didn't remember to post my ORTs for this month. You can find out about our TUSAL by clicking the link above or on It's Daffycat blog.  It's not hard to do.  Just keep all those little orts that you know you will accumulate every time you sit down to stitch.

I have been working on many different and little things, getting presents ready for Christmas, some birthdays, some exchanges at an upcoming retreat among our group going, and then lots of STITCHING FOR SANITY!!!  haha

Here is where I store all my little ORTs each month.

Here is how my BIGGER ORT jar is looking.  It's really getting filled up.  I did push some of the ORTs down in it after taking the picture.

I just got home from spending the last 4 hours at the Chevrolet dealership getting my van repaired of a transmission fluid lead and a couple of other smaller problems.  I am just THANKFUL to have xstitching projects to take with me, otherwise I would have been BORED OUT OF MY MIND sitting there waiting and doing nothing productive.  I did stitch an old UFO that needed to be finished.  Now I can take it to be framed!!!  YEAHH ME!!!

Happy Stitching everyone!

September Smalls Post.....

Heather of Stitching Lotus hosts the monthly Smalls SAL!!!  You can click on her link there or up above to go to see what the Smalls SAL is all about.

I had stitched up the latest SB My Home scissor fob last of August, but I just didn't have time to get it finished into the fob to post.  So as to not stress myself out over it, I saved it to share this month for the Smalls SAL.  I will admit I did the finishing though yesterday.  lol  Nothing like stitching something but then I tend to wait do the "finishing" all on a particular day.....like Friday Finishes.  However, yesterday wasn't Friday and last Friday when I planned to do it, something came up that I didn't get to do the finishing on it.

I have done the ribbon finishing on other SB fobs but for some reason, I didn't make the loops very loopy yesterday.  Not too sure why.  I look at it and I swear it reminds me of when my husband goes in for his haircuts and gets a military "buzz cut".  I feel like I gave my ribbon edging a "buzz looping" yesterday!   ROFL

I had bought the little purple heart scissors from Kelmscott when I paid for my SB My Home fob kit.  I might check and see what SB has when I go to their shop before retreat next month.  Hmmmm I might have to have a new pair of scissors.  I'm sure SB has some to choose from.  I am thinking a darker purple for scissors to match the fob more.  Nothing is wrong with these scissors except that I think I want a darker purple color to match the fob.  Which means......I will have to stitch ANOTHER FOB in a lighter purple to match the purple heart scissors.

I also had some beads left over so you will notice the tiny beads at the bottom of each ribbon tassel to just add some fun and flair to my fob.

Also.....how are your Christmas Ornaments coming along???  Me.....I made my list the other day and I have 4 left to stitch but I know exactly which ones those have to be.  Yes....I will use the stash I have here now especially after having to move and remind myself HOW MUCH STASH I have in my sewing room.   But I have many left to do the FINISHING WORK on so that will be another Friday of finishing!!!!  Maybe this Friday!!!!????

Happy Stitching!!!

Cup Organizers and a pincushion!!!

Recently, after my daughter went back to college, she asked me to make her a pincushion to put all her pins in that she had left over from making an Anime CosPlay costume.  She had sewn the costume while she was at home but didn't finish with the ribbon trim and had pinned the ribbon on which she would finish when she got back to TN.  So now, here she had all these pins just in a Ziplock bag.  I asked her if she didn't want me to send her a small Whitman tin to hold them in but her reply was "No.....mama.  I like the things you make for me!"  OHHHHHHH to make a mama proud!

I knew that I was going to make her and her roommate a cup organizer to help keep them organized but I ended up making 3.  One for my daughter, her roommate this year and one for Grace's roommate last year who just lives next door but they all still hang out together.  It was soooo much fun picking out fabrics for them.  Grace had helped me pick out for one set but she wanted to be surprised for her set.

Here are the supplies.

Here they are laid flat so you can see the inside pockets that go inside the mugs.

Here they are assembled!!!!

And you can see Grace's little pincushion laying in front of them all.  What you can't see is the small heart button that I sewed inside the middle.

The girls had soooo much fun deciding on who got what organizer.  I did pick up the mugs from Dollar Tree but any mug or cup that you have extra in your house (that you aren't using as my husband would say) can be used to make these wonderful organizers.

I LOVE making these as they make great gifts to friends or your kid's teachers as gifts.  And what fun you have PICKING OUT THE FABRIC!  I think that is the hardest part sometimes......deciding on WHAT fabric to use!!!

Now....I'm off to clean and organize my sewing room some more.  Yes....it is still a WIP....but what sewing room isn't???  haha

Happy Stitching today!!!
