My New Year start project......

Happy New Year to everyone!!!!  I hope your day has started off right.  We all stayed up late to watch the ball drop and then went on to bed.  I was stitching all the way til the ball dropped which I thought I missed seeing it drop.  Dh told me that I didn't see it because the TV program really didn't focus in too much on showing it drop.  I was sad to see that the TV programming focused more on showing the people in the crowd more than the ball dropping and hearing it count down.  I will try to find a new program to watch it next year.

On my Stitcher's Garden message board, we are doing a Vintage SAL.  We decided to pull a chart that has been in our stash for a long time that we have been wanting to stitch but never seemed to get around to stitching it.

My choice was for Mirabilia's The Lady of the Flag chart.  It was charted in 2001 after the 9-11 attach on the United States.  I loved the chart when it came and in fact started it way back then on 32ct Platinum Belfast but somehow it got packed away.  Then several years down the road, I saw this chart stitched on 32ct White Belfast hanging on a fellow stitcher's wall.  I LOVED IT being stitched on white.

So I have now pulled some 32ct White Belfast from my stash, all the threads from my stash and bought the remaining missing threads recently from Michael's when they were having a sale along with new bobbins and a thread box to store them.  By keeping the threads for this big of a project in one box makes it so convenient when stitching as the threads are all contained and filed in the box.

No I don't have the Kreinik Braids pulled for this project yet, and I still need to see if I have all the beads required for the finishing.  I will check on this today and if not, then I will need to order them.

I think we will be posting our WIP of our Vintage Projects on the 1st and the 15th of each month so check back for my WIP updates!

Now I'm off to get started winding some floss and start stitching the day away!!

Happy Stitching!

  9. Happy New Year! Slightly belated but this is how far behind reading blogs I have got.
Loved seeing all the progress pictures of the iStitch SAL and your lovely collection of JN Whimzies. I am quite envious of those.
That Mira chart is always very sought after on the boards. I wonder why Nora lets some go out of print? She could make a lot of money keeping it going!
