Just Nan SAL post.....picture heavy

YEAHH!!!!  Today we get to post our JN projects for our SAL!!!  Zeb of Keep Calm and Cross Stitch was the one who came up with our SAL group.  I'm so glad as it has REALLY gotten me to finishing a lot of  my little JN charts/kits that I have collected over the years.  Yes.....I still buy her new things too!!

I have a great LOVE of Just Nan charts and kits.  Why?  Because it was 19years ago when we were stationed at Scott AFB in Belleville, IL that my small shop in Lebanon, IL called Mom & Me was where I bought my first JN kit.  My shop owner had tried for several months to get me to try stitching on linen.  I looked at it and thought to myself "I'll never get the hang of stitching on linen."  Famous last words for me.  So I purchased a small JN Filigree Fancies Forget Me Not kit.  I took it home and stitched it up and mounted it into a small square wooden box and gave it to my mom for Mother's Day.  She has it displayed on her dresser in her bedroom.

What I did was GIVE AWAY my first stitched linen project!!!!  WHAT????  I have a rule of thumb for myself when I learn a new technique, whether it is for cross stitching or sewing projects, is that I keep the first finished piece of the "new technique".  Well, I do get to see it when I go home to visit my parents which being a military wife is not all that often.  But my mom just LOVES that little treasure box with the Just Nan displayed on top.

OK.....now on to today's JN finish posting!  I took some pictures of my little biscornu yesterday evening just in case we didn't have any sun today.  Well, they turned out ok but I also took some more pictures of my little biscornu again this morning to share with you.

I stitched JN Anniversary Biscornu.  I just LOVE getting the "special kits" that some shops commission Nan to do for their store.

Here are several shots of the front of the biscornu.

Here are the back pictures of the biscornu.

I tried to get better lighting by photographing them outside on top of my bushes but I guess I should have done that earlier in the day yesterday.  Oh well.  I hope they turned out well enough for you to see them.

Now.....what to start for November's JN project????  I already have an idea.  I will be starting the JN Ornamental Advent.  If you don't know what it looks like, you can click on this link Just Nan Ornamental Advent.  I have the fabrics all cut, thread all wound and in a special thread box of their own.  So I'm ready to get started right away.   I hope to do one (or two possibly) each month and then will do the finishing at the end.  That way I will hopefully have all of them completed by next November just in time to start using next December!

I hope I haven't rambled on and on too much for you today.  I just get excited about cross stitching and being able to share my finishes with you.  Thank you for taking the time to read all this today!!!

Happy Stitching!

Smalls SAL.....

Heather of Stitching Lotus is the host of the 2014 Smalls SAL.  You can click on the link above or on her blog link to find out more about our Smalls SAL this year.  I'm THRILLED to be a part of this SAL this year and I plan on signing up for next year too!!  It gets me to finishing all those little ornaments throughout this year that will be presents this Christmas......or for presents for upcoming birthdays!

This month I stitched a freebie chart from iStitch Designs called SNOW.  You can find it her on Carol's blog, iStitch, and then go under her Freebies link to get the chart.  And if you haven't checked out iStitch's blog fully, be sure to go back and see what wonderful projects that Carol designs up.  I also heard that she is doing another Advent SAL this year so I will definitely be signing up for that once again.

Snow was such a fun stitch and I just chose my own colors from my stash.  It is stitched on Sassy's Fabrics 32ct English Ivy, and I just used the same fabric for the backing material.  The threads are Hand Dyed Fibers (HDF) B5200 white regular silk and the red is Perfect Red 6207 premium.  I used 2 strands of the white regular silk and 1 strand of red premium.  I LOVE this red silk!!!

Since all my Christmas decorations are still packed away, I did manage to find this adorable Christmas box that I received one year and photographed the ornament on top of it.  Seeeee......that's why I need to keep SOME Christmas decorations out all year long.......for photographing new Christmas projects!!! hehe   Ok....so my husband and family probably wouldn't understand that reasoning but hey....it works for now!

Thank you for stopping by to read and see what stitching projects I've been up to.  Now I need to get back to some more stitching on another ornament!  Some people have asked me if I ever get tired of stitching the ornaments.  I reply and smile and say, "Never!"  I just love to stitch up ornaments for my family and close friends!!!

Happy Stitching!

TUSAL time again.....

Yeah......it's TUSAL time again!!!  Yes it's that time again for us to share our ORTs with you.  Daffycat is the one who hosts this SAL and you can find more about the TUSAL that she is hosting by clicking on the link above or here at her blog of It's Daffycat.   I have quite a few to show you in my little ORT tin this time.  I will show you the full jar in next month's post.

That's not too bad considering a lot of it was for stitching some gifts that I was giving away just recently.

Now back to my regular stitching for today.

HAPPY STITCHING!
