My Big Toe The Lord's Prayer FINISHED!!!!!

I am sooooo extremely EXCITED!!!!  I finally finished My Big Toe The Lord's Prayer for Becky Bee's BAP challenge!!!!  I entered her challenge when she first came out with it back in December 31, 2011.  I have been sending her updates of my WIP on this huge project but unfortunately I had some health issues throughout this year that provided challenges to me of their own.  However, I never let that make me quit the challenge and I perserved through it all.  And it definitely paid off as I stayed up last night to finish up this project.  The project will be framed to hang in my husband's office at work.

I want to thank Becky for offering up this challenge.  It kept me going along with the fact that I will get to enjoy seeing it framed and hanging in my husband's office.

Happy Stitching everyone!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I want to pause and take a moment to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.  We all opened our presents this morning and then started preparing our Christmas lunch.  We like to eat our big meal for our lunch time so we can have the rest of the day for the kids to play games or instant message with their friends far away, cross stitching for me and a day full of resting for my husband.  Ok....so he plays on the Wii with the kids too because he's such a big kid himself!

We pray your day is filled with many wonderful memories as we take time to celebrate this day and KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS!

Blessings to you and your family!

MBT The Lord's Prayer WIP

I have been frantically trying to get this huge project finished up this year.  I am getting close to finishing MBT The Lord's Prayer.  Here is a pic of my WIP thus far so you can see that I'm close to reaching my goal.  I have the floral border to finish up on both sides and the bottom plus the straight xstitch outer border to finish as well.

Back to xstitching!

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

Remembering Newtown, CT

This poem was forwarded to me in an email and I've seen it circulating everywhere.  I do not want to forget as I've been praying for these families of the children and adults that lost their lives last Friday.

Twas' 11 days before Christmas around 9:38,
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
They were filled with such joy; they didn't know what to say.
They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
“Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
“This is heaven" declared a small boy. "We’re spending Christmas at God's house”.
When what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their Savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
Then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
And in that moment was joy that only heaven can bring,
those children all flew into the arms of their King.
And as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
And as if He could read all the questions she had, ...
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
Then He looked down on earth, the world far below,
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe.
Then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
“Let My power and presence re-enter this land!
May this country be delivered from the hands of fools.
I’m taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
Then He and the children stood up without a sound.
“Come now my children let me show you around."
Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
All displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
And I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
“In the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

My stitching day today........

Oh I'm sooo excited!  I've gotten all my errands done and chores done for this week so that I can say that TODAY.....IS MY STITCHING DAY!!!  Wooohoo!!!  I will be working on a project for my husband which should have been done by now.  Yall know how that goes though.....life gets in the way sometimes and sometimes we get sick and all those other excuses that we have that interfere with our stitching.

But today....as I said....is going to my dedicated stitching day.  I want to get as much stitched on My Big Toe The Lord's Prayer for my husband.  This project will hang in his office as I promised him it would.  I'm almost to the finishing but I need more days like today to REALLY get it finished up.

So.....now is a perfect time to get off the computer and get to stitching.  Ted has left to go to work and the kid's are off to school.  Leftovers for lunch so I won't have to spend too much time fixing my lunch so I can get back to xstitching today!!!  (hehe)  Time is precious especially if I want to get this project done before Dec 31, 2012!!!!  Until another time.....

HAPPY STITCHING!!!

20 years ago on Dec 12......

I said "I DO" to the most wonderful loving man!!!  Yes....it was my anniversary on Dec 12 and we are celebrating 20 wonderful years together!!!  Of course, we dated for 4 1/2 yrs before we got married!!!

I don't have a wedding picture scanned in but Ted is the love of my life and I look forward to many more wonderful years together!!!  He took today off to spend with me and I meant to get this posted on Wednesday.  We did take a self portrait picture that Wednesday morning though in front of our Christmas tree.

Nothing fancy for the picture but at least I remembered to take the picture!!!  We have our annual Christmast party at the AFB tonight so maybe I'll get a "fancier and dressed up" picture tonight!

It was wonderful to have him spend the day with me......and only me!!!  Until the kids came home from school later that day of course!!!!

A challenge and 3 new charts.....

I had read about Nicola's challenge as I subscribe to her blog Stitching By A Cornish Sea Shore.  http://stitchingbyacornishseashore.blogspot.com/

Nicola will be turning 50 and has posted a challenge on her blog.  Of course......I just couldn't resist the challenge.  I have 3 The Scarlet Letter charts here.  One is started which is Jane Rees and the other 2 were kitted from way back in 2005 or so.  I know....sad.  But being a military family, we got orders soon after I received those 2 charts and in the stash they went only to stay there to be looked at over the following years.

My best friend was the one who introduced me to The Scarlet Letter.   So yes.....Kimberly....I blame you!  hehe    But it wasn't a bad thing but a good thing as she introduced me to a new style of xstitching....samplers.  Needless to say, that love of those samplers never died in me.  I would take out my 2 charts (that I bought way back when) and look them over the years but of course, one project or another would take my time to finish or draw me away from them.

Then one day, a dear sweet friend, gifted me with The Scarlet Letter Jane Rees chart.  I was living in Germany because that was where were stationed a the time.  So I drove to Tissage Gander in France to buy special fabric for this Jane Rees project.  I knew she was going to be huge and so I wanted to make sure I got a big enough piece for her.  Then what happened?  The Air Force moves us from Germany back to the states to AZ where I am now.

I had seen Nicola's challenge from her blog, and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to finish Jane Rees.  But I wanted a smaller project to do also for the challenge.  So what's a girl to do but GO SHOPPING on The Scarlet Letter's website.  I couldn't decide exactly which one chart I wanted to start with so I bought 3 smallerish ones to decide from.   Plus I wanted to make the most of my shipping and handling charge.  Good excuse .... right???  I could have bought a chart from my LNS but I knew most of what she had were medium to large SL charts as I had looked there before.  Here is what I bought:

I am thinking of starting The Mary Baker Sampler.  I love the saying on this one which I think I'm so drawn to the chart.  I'm sure I have some fabric in my stash that will accomodate this sampler and then I will see what fibers I will stitch it in. If I don't have the right threads, I'm sure my local needlework stop will have what I need.  I will show you the posts as I start this new one and the progress on my Jane Rees as well.  I know this is not a competition but I say it will definitely be "motivation" to get these charts xstitched and hanging on my walls.

Until another time ....... HAPPY STITCHING!

Great News tonight......

Ohhh we are rejoicing with our daughter tonight because she got her acceptance letter to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville!!!  I'm soooo happy and proud of her!!!!  I will be very sad when we have to actually move her to TN because I will still be living here in AZ for now.  But on the bright side, we can skype and call all we want to her in TN.  Isn't technology great???!!!!   At least she can fly home at Christmas time and my husband and I both still have parents living in the area where she will be going to college in case of an emergency.  She will graduate this coming May and I'm spending as much time with her now as I can.  Yes...we are very close mother and daughter!  Grace.....I'm SOOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!

Thank you for visiting my blog and rejoicing in my news!!!!

2 ornament finishes.....

I actually have 5 ornament finishes but 3 are gifts for stitching friends that I just cannot post a picture of just yet.  I will after Christmas.

But here are 2 that I just finished off tonight.  I had stitched these 2 earlier this year but I just got around to doing the "finishing" part tonight because I need to mail them to my mom and dad for part of their Christmas presents.  I do give them more than just stitched ornaments.

LHN Baked Goods for my mom who LOVES to cook and is an excellent cook at that.

Prairie Schooler for my dad who loves the outdoors.

That's all of the finishes I can show for now.

Happy Stitching!

Pay It Forward

My friend Maureen invited me to participate in a PIF and I accepted. How fun! Thank you to Karen for starting such a fun stitchy thing. I love stuff like this.  Maureen sent me 5 stitching accessories and all I have to do is send 5 stitching accessories to 2 other stitchers within the year and post this on my blog which I am doing now. ( Of course!) Simple right! I have asked 2 friends to participate with me.  This is going to be so much fun.

Here is Karen's website who started this whole PIF!

So if this is something that appeals to you and you think it would be fun, please email me.

More Jill Rensel studio pics

I'm hoping that I can get it right this time.  Not too sure why the pics won't post as I'm resizing them all to post on here.

This was a chart that was sold in SB shop but we didn't know the name of it and Jill couldn't think of it at the time.  Thankfully I had taken a picture of it and we all went back to SB for Beth and I to buy this chart.  She and I just loved it!

SB Busy Sheep kit

In this picture L to R, Debra, Angelica, Jill, and Brenda.

Jill and Brenda with her wonderful Christmas table all laid out behind us.

Another framed picture ......

That is all I can get to post today.  I have 2 more pictures remaining that I really hope to show you that I took in Jill's studio.  I've been resizing them all down quite a bit but the last 2 are giving me fits about posting them.  I will keep working on it though and hopefully will find a solution to the right size for posting them.

Until then....Happy Stitching.

Jill Rensel Studio visit and pics.....

Ok....continuing on with my visit to UT for the Shepherd's Bush retreat last month, we visited Jill Rensel's Studio that Monday when we arrived in Ogden.  Ok...it was my idea because I had 2 pieces I needed her to frame up for me....for my xmas present this year from my husband.  That's what I wanted.  My xstitch pieces framed and what better way to pick out frames and mats than just visit Jill's studio and talk with her in person.

Our little group went there after our visit to SB first and purchased a few little things before the SB Birthday party on Tues.  I was having Jill to frame up my SB Sail Away that I had taken a class from them in 2007 at the very first Dyeing To Stitch retreat in VA Beach.  Yes....I sometimes take years to get my pieces framed.

Anyway....you don't want me to keep talking as I know you want to see the pics I took of Jill, her studio, her framed pieces there and then more pics of us.  I just took random pictures around her studio this day and another day that we went back.  I'm including all the pics of Jill's studio here .... for my sanity sake.  I'm sure I missed SOMETHING framed up gorgeous there so .... again.... that's the next trip to the SB retreat.

Well for some reason, my other pics are NOT wanting to post.  My apologies.  I don't know why because I've already copied and resized them to fit.  Maybe the computer is having issues for right now so I will continue posting the pics tomorrow.

I'm off to xstitch some now on Ted's project....MBT The Lord's Prayer.

Happy Stitching.

More retreat pics day 2 - picture heavy

Here are some more pics of our day 2 of our week long trip.  We had left on Sun Sept 23 and our little group of 4 did a lot of things that week.

We made our way up to Ogden, UT where Shepherd's Bush shop was located.  We stayed at the Marriott right across the road from SB shop.  It was sooooooo convenient to walk to and get there quickly esp when we may have forgotten to buy something.

I will be posting a few pictures each day of our week.  On that Monday, we HAD to visit Shepherd's Bush shop first as we knew it would be crowded yet fun!  Ok fun for me but not fun for those people who do not like big crowds!

The following pics are just ones I snapped throughout SB wonderfully decorated walls!!!  And to have those gorgeous painted cabinets to store my stash in........well maybe one day when we settle down and don't move every 2 years.

I hope you enjoyed my "tour" of the shop with all the pictures I've posted today.  I am POSITIVE that I did not get all that is there but.....that will be another trip one day!

Shepherd's Bush Retreat pics.....

I recently went to the Shepherd's Bush Retreat in Park City, UT with several of my friends from Sept 23 - 30, 2012.  However.....we made a week of it away from our normal routines of work, housework, chores, errands and all those other things that keep us busy.  I look forward to my week away but I also miss my family a great deal.

We started off our trip in Salt Lake City, UT and visited Temple Square that Sunday when we first arrived.  But we had to get there first and fitting 4 women's suitcases into a medium sized car can sometimes be somewhat challenging as you can see here.  We took a pic just in case we forgot what went where to make it all fit.

I will just post some pics a little each day so the blog posts don't become too boring with just pics constantly.  After getting all our luggage in the trunk, we headed off to do some sight seeing and visit SLC Genealogy building and then Temple Square.  I had never been to either and was fascinated with visiting both.  I did a little research at the Genealogy Center on my family history.  After going there, we walked over to Temple Square.  It was sooo beautiful to see up close.

This first picture is the information desk when entering the Genealogical Center.

Temple Square

Left to right in the following pic:  Angelica, Brenda, Beth and Debra

The first picture is where the Boys Tabernacle Choir practice and a model of the Temple Square of what it looks like inside.  Both are simply gorgeous.

That is all I'm going to post from my trip for today as I'm going to get some xstitching in tonight while we are still on Fall Break for my kid's school.

Happy Stitching.

A new start.......

Ok.....so ever since I bought this from the Attic during my birthday shopping, I have wanted to start this LK Faith Hope Love Inspirational Boxer!  I absolutely LOVE all of LK newest Inspirational Boxers!!!  Don't you???  Here is what I started last night after an exhausting day.  You know this was "medicinal stitching therapy" right????  To start a new project....

And thankfully, I am able to add a picture again to show you.  I tried a few minutes ago and it wouldn't let me.  Not too sure why or what I did to make it link it right this time.  Maybe I went a different route to posting my blog post today.

My friend Maureen of Maureen's Mountain of Stitching that you can see the link on the right side had the same issue and she emailed me about it also as she was having issues as well.  Who really knows what is going on in the cyberworld but our computers!

Hopefully I can get more stitched on this one today.

Happy Stitching today....and every day!

Remembering 9-11

I will never forget that day and what I was doing when the plane flew into those Twin Towers in NY, the plane the crashed into the Pentagon or the plane that crashed in the PA field.  So many lives were lost.....not only that day but the many days to come for our military as well when we went to war.

I will remember.....I hope you will too.

2 ornament finishes.....

YEAH ..... I can post pictures again.  I just don't like computer issues and it will aggravate me more than anything.

I have 2 ornament finishes but really I am only going to show you one today.  The stitching is finished but I will do the actual finishing tomorrow so really.....I should wait til then right???!!!  Naaaaaa.......I will show you one but the other I will show later on because it is for my Shepherd's Bush Retreat Ornament exchange and I don't want to give anything away just yet.

This is LHN Good Tidings from Diane's 2011 ornament series.  I have LOVED this ornament ever since it came out and now I have it stitched up!  WOOOHOOOO

I'm still deciding on whether to finish it off as a stuffed ornament or to put foam core behind it and make a flat ornament.  Hmmmm decisions decisions!!  I find it sooo much easier to just sew a backing fabric to it and then apply a cording around it.  Maybe it is because sewing it makes it 'finished' much quicker than mounting it on foam core.  I'll have to see what mood I'm in tomorrow when I get around to finishing it.

I'm off to stitch on my Tulips Praise for my German Yahoo Group.  I'm on part 3 and really love this chart as I find it easy to xstitch when I need some easy xstitching.

I have sooooo many other projects that I want to xstitch also.  Samplers, ornaments, smalls, etc.  Now to find time.....

Happy Stitching everyone!

Birthday Presents pics....

The top picture was presents from my Tranquil Stitches board and the second picture above are presents from family and close best friends.  The third picture is a gift from a dear sweet friend here in AZ.  It's a trinket box with sewing items on top.  The last picture is a late birthday present that my dear friend Jorja sent.  She knows how much I love patriotic things.

I am able to post pics now but it's been a LONGGGGG process to get to this point.  I am on a new blogger interface kind of program so it's back to learning my way around here again so please bear with me as I try to get pictures and posts to work properly.

And I just realized I had forgotten to take a picture of my best friend's ornament that she made me and mailed later on.  I hope that I can get a pic of it in the next day or so.

I'm all about change but I am finding that I really don't like change when it comes to things like the computer and certain ways I do things.

BUT.........at least I can post pictures....thanks to my wonderful hubby helping me out and listening to all my grumbling.

Now....hopefully I can post more things tomorrow!

Xstitching......

Ok....I'm still having issues trying to upload pics so I will be researching more on this issue and hopefully will find a solution soon.  Yall want to see my pictures more than just my words in this message block.

I'm stitching on my German Yahoo group challenge today project Tulips Praise part 3.  It's wonderful as I find it a "no brainer" type stitching project.

So......no more chitchatting for now.  I'm off to research some more about the picture issue problem.  Again...if anyone has a solution please post it here for me or email me if you have my personal email address.

Have a great day and HAPPY STITCHING!

Trying to post pics but can't.....

I was going to post pics of some of my wonderful birthday presents that I received from family and friends but for some reason I can't.  It won't let me post any pics at all.  I'm so sad.  I don't know what is wrong but I even tried to logout and relog back in.  Oh well.  Maybe the computer is having issues or just a bad day.   We all have those on occasion.

I even tried to post pics from an Attic Sampler Sunday in July and it wouldn't let me post those pics either.  Shoot.  I thought maybe I had done something wrong when I copied the pics from my camera disc to the computer but that wasn't the problem.

So if there is anyone out in cyberland who might know what my problem is please post it here or email me.  Thank you for any help you can offer.

Now I can't wait to for a friend to release her newest chart called Sew Buttons!!!  You can see a snippet of a new chart that will hopefully be released soon from iStitch.  Just put your cursor over the words iStitch and it will take you to her website.

I'm off to finish xstitching an ornament and then to start a new one after that.  Don't you just LOVE finishing one little project and then getting to start a new little one right away???  I do!

Until next post.......Happy Stitching!

Tulip Praise part 2

I finished stitching my Tulip Praise part 2 last night.   YEAH!!!  I like working on this project as it is very easy to follow the chart and it's great for those nights when I'm tired but still want to xstitch on something.  I look forward to part 3 and I'm just waiting on the section to arrive.  This is a SAL with a German yahoo group and I'm having a great time seeing everyone's version of this chart.  I even figured out how to add my name and the title to the actual project which is great for posting on a yahoo group.  It's very easy.  We also have to resize our pictures before sharing and that is why this one looks so small.  I apologize for the wrinkles also but I just wanted to get the picture sent in to the moderators.

I also had my birthday on Aug 9 last week and received MANY wonderful presents.  I had meant to post a picture but I'm still receiving some late presents so I will try to get that post out later on this week.

I've been stitching ever so diligently on my DH's project, MBT The Lord's Prayer.  I'll try to take a picture of that and then I have my ornaments to take pics of as well.  Hmmmmm I guess I'm just going to have to spend one morning just taking pics of my current WIPs and finishes.

May you have a great day and thank you for stopping by.
Happy Stitching!

Best Friend's birthday presents.....

Today I get to post about my best friend's birthday!  Karen (best friend) and I exchange xmas ornaments for our birthdays since we both have summer birthdays.  It was her idea to do that and I agreed.  That way when Christmas time comes around and we start decorating our trees, we each have a NEW ORNAMENT to enjoy for the entire season that we keep the tree up.  Here is the ornament I did for her this year.  It is Just Nan Holly Knot freebie chart xstitched in premium HDF silks and metallics.  And of course....the lovely beads just add to it as well.

Karen also wanted a special xstitch kit with horses on it that she saw on Amazon.  I was able to get that ordered and shipped to her as well as some new stork scissors.   I think we all need a new pair of scissors on occasion.  Don't you???   I don't have a picture of either of these but the kit was of horses running in water.  I also sent her a new cookbook that the Officer Spouse Club from Luke AFB were selling earlier this year as a fundraiser.  And I included some little notecards.  We all need little notecards for that "last minute gift" that comes around sometimes.  Then to top it off I enclosed a Kohl's gift card for her to go shopping for some new clothes for herself!!!

Happy Birthday Karen!!   I Miss You!!!

Birthday present for a dear close friend....

Today is my dear friend Pat's birthday!!!  She is not a fan of sewing and says her sewing machine just hates her.  I really don't think it does but I can sympathize because my paint brush HATES me!  So for her b-day I xstitched her iStitch Sew Pretty in Pink because Pat and I are such PINK FANATICS and we love the same things. You can find the chart HERE at this link -- just click on the left side where is says CHARTS. So I thought I would xstitch this wonderful little iStitch chart, in HDF Murmurs of Sea Pinks, and then I sewed a new xstitching bag to sew it on the front.  I even personalized it by stitching "Pat's Stitching Bag" over one thread at the bottom of the chart.  Of course.....I couldn't just send just the new xstitch bag with the stitching on the front so I filled it with a mini spool of HDF, a pink crocheted dishcloth, mints in a pink tin, pink nail polish, some pretty pink floral tissues and a tube of Udder Cream.  She said the tissues and lotion were going into her new stitching bag.  I loved her bag sooo much that I cut another one out for me to have as well.  Oh darn....now I need to stitch up the same design and put "Brenda's Stitching Bag" on mine like I did for Pat.  Then I had wrapped it all up individually in pink Mary Englebrit wrapping paper so Pat would have just the most wonderful of PINK BIRTHDAYS!!!  Here are the pics to see what I'm talking about.

I hope she enjoys her bag.....which I'm pretty sure she will!

HAPPY STITCHING AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAT!!!

More stitching photos......

More stitching photos for your viewing.  I am trying to space these out over several days so that one blog post will not be so picture heavy.  And it's nice to get inspired by seeing other peoples stitching and WIPs.  I will also try to show some photos I took when I went to the Attic's Sampler Sunday this past Sunday.  We had such a GREAT time as always!

Here is my LHN Stars & Stripes finish.  I am not sure if I want to frame it or make it into a standing cube.  I stitched it in HDF premium on 32ct Natural Belfast with my own color choices.

I have also joined a German xstitch message board and I am doing a SAL project called Tulips Praise.  Here is my first part finished.  This is a 6mo SAL.  I am stitching this one on 32ct Natural Belfast with DMC.

Now....to get some more "finishes" done so I can show you.....besides just xstitch finishes.  I know I have 4 or 5 more LHN ornaments to put the backing on sometime soon.  Now.....I'm off to xstitch the night away.

Happy Stitching!

MBT The Lord's Prayer WIP.....

I know I said I was going to start posting more pictures but there are some days I don't know where in the world my time has gone.  So I decided to work some more on this huge project for my husband.  I am also doing it for Becky Bee's BAP contest for her blog.  You can find the link to her blog on the right side.

I had thought about taking this project home with me when we vacationed in TN for a month visiting family and doing the "touristy sites" with our 2 kids.  I'll post those pics here soon too.  I did manage to get a lot of stitching time in and finished 5 complete projects for the month I was gone and also managed to work on 2 other medium projects.   But decided against taking it because it is SO HUGE of a project.

Here it is........ My Big Toe The Lord's Prayer WIP to date.

I apologize for the wrinkles.  I just folded it out on my loveseat in the LR this a.m. and didn't bother to iron it as I will be working more on it today.

Now to go play in the pool with my son and then come in for some serious xstitching for the remainder of the day.   I did get my ornament of the month done for this month.  YEAH ME.  I will close with a pic of that one.  I just need to do the finishing work for it.

LHN Six Little Cardinals

I have more stitchy pics to show but I can't do that just yet because some are for birthday gifts and the recipients have not received them yet.  When they do I'll be happy to share pictures.

Happy Stitching!
