Happy Memorial Day

On Friday, DH was off but DS still had to go to school.  So DH, DD and I went to a Memorial Day Roll Call on Wright Patterson AFB.  It was such a beautiful ceremony.  Each cross bears a helmet from the different 20th century uniforms representing the soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice in each of the wars.

In the middle of them all is the soldiers cross.  It represents all of the Americans who gave their lives throughout history.  You can see it displayed in this picture here.

I pray that everyone takes a moment today to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom today.

May Smalls Post ....

Heather of Stitching Lotus is our wonderful host for our Smalls each month.  You can click on her blog name above or on the side bar.

This month I've still been stitching up a lot of "little" gifts that I'm sorry to say I just can't show you yet.  But I will once they are gifted out this October.  Yes.....you will have to wait til then to see what "smalls" I've stitched up this month.

While doing these little gifts I have been trying to get other things TOTALLY FINISHED to be able to show you something for my May Smalls post.  I had stitched this SB Fold needleroll a couple of months ago, and I really should have done the finishing on it right away.  So I was determined to get it totally finished to share this month.  I'm sorry for the dark looking picture. I had taken this on my fabric cutting table in my sewing room.  I think I'm going to have to start photographing them on the dining room table or somewhere over in the main living room area where there is more light showing.

Now all I have left to stitch up for this set is the last one which is the ruler chart.  Then I will need to stain my box to hold all my goodies inside and mount the main design on top of the box.  I want to finish the inside off like what is found in this picture from Cathy's blog called With Needle and Thread.  Didn't she do a excellent job finishing her box so creatively??!!

Here is what it looked like before adding all the goodies inside.

I have the fabric to finish mine like this so I just need to take a day and just get it DONE!

For the next Smalls this month, I have JN Snowbonnets to share with you.  I THOUGHT I had one of the Kreinik #4 braid  called for in this piece but could not find it anywhere.  So I just substituted it with a DMC Metallic thread.

Now for some sewing projects that I've done.  This was a very late birthday gift last month that I gave to Carol of iStitch Designs.  I had asked Carol to forgive me for missing sending her birthday present in time, but I said it would hopefully be worth the wait.  Needless to say, she said she loved it!!!  The design is Sew Parisian and can be found HERE.

I also found a cute Eiffel Tower charm to attach as a zipper pull.

So while I was in my sewing room the other day, I decided to make a new thread organizer pack and ORT catcher for myself as I had found some of my favorite fabric while searching through my fabric stash for something else.

That's all I have to share for today.  I've pulled fabric and threads to stitch up my dad's Father's Day present.  Can you believe it that I had ALL of the colors called for in a project for once without having a missing thread color???  That is not always the case.  Then what do I do but go and change one of the threads!  Oh well.  At least I had all the colors suggested......doesn't mean I HAVE to use them!  I will share that finish hopefully in a few days.

One more MD present and a WIP.......

I just had to post one more Mother's Day present as DD got this for me yesterday when we were out running errands.  She couldn't find it before moving out of the dorm so she was betting on finding it once she moved back home......and she did!  She got me this wonderful new bowl to eat my Raman noodles!!!

I never ate these when I was in college, but I do love to eat them on a cold day to warm me up inside!!!  Thank you sweetheart!!!!

Now....for some stitching news.  Here is my JN Lindy House of Mouse WIP.  This it the project I started the night that DS and DH were at a Youth Sleepover at our church, and I had the whole Fri night to myself and most of the following Saturday.  The 3rd block down I stitched on Sat the next day, and the bottom block is one that I did the following Sat.  I only completed the top 2 blocks that Friday night, but I was watching a movie so that is why I didn't get more stitched.  (I'll know better the next time to NOT put in a movie while having my stitching weekend!)

I hope to get this finished up soon!!!  It really is a fun stitch, but I'm not attaching the beads until the very end when all stitching is complete!!!

Belated Mother's Day post.....

On Mother's Day, I was driving down to TN to meet up with DD at her college to help her move out.  What a mom to do that on Mother's Day.  And that was the first thing she said to me when I arrived at her dorm was how APPRECIATIVE she was that I drove down to help start packing up her dorm room.  She said she had been at the study room and had overheard another girl saying she wasn't packing ANYTHIING until her mom and dad got there to her dorm and they could do it all.  That just unnerved my daughter at this other girls actions to her parents.  So she was wanting to make sure I knew how much she appreciated my coming in on Mother's Day to help start packing things up.  So of course, we had to take a selfie to remember my day!!!

DD was going to buy my dinner at the little food court in her dorm as her Mother's Day present to me but neither of us were hungry yet.  So we said we would have my Mother's Day meal on Tuesday for lunch when I came back to pack some more which was much better anyway.  We were moving her out in small amounts since I was going to be in town all week instead of rushing to do it all at one time.  I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of my food to show you but just know that the buffalo wings, seasoned fries and FOUNTAIN Pepsi were delicious!!!!

After packing up some of her stuff, I took it out to my MIL house to store for the summer.  Then I went on home to spend Mother's Day with my mom and dad.  Here is our picture.

So I gave my mom her Mother's Day gifts which I had shown in the previous post.  Please scroll down to see her gifts.  She LOVED her framed card and stitched Mother's Day picture!!!!  I had given her a card as well but I didn't take a picture of it.

Since I was moving DD out of the dorm on Mother's Day and several times that week, DD wanted to stay in town for her roommates graduation 4 days later along with another friends' graduation.  That took place on Saturday but both were at different times.  Oh well.

I decided we'd celebrate my Mother's Day when we got back the following Sunday.  Here is what Dh gave me for Mother's Day!  He gave me a Jim Shore Snoopy Patriot figurine and some Dove chocoalates!  These are sooooo delicious!  He also chose a beautiful Mary Engelbrit Mother's Day card for me as he knows I like her things as well!!

DS gave me a Buffalo Wild Wings Gift Card and some Dove chocolates as well!!!  Once again....these are soooo delicious.....for both the BWW and chocolates!!!!

That's all I have to share for my Mother's Day!!!  We will be going this Friday night to use my new gift card!!!  I can't wait!!!

Happy Mother's Day early post.....

I thought I would go ahead and post what I will be giving to my mom for Mother's Day. (I can post here early as she doesn't have a computer to see her presents!)

I had went to a Stampin' UP party a week ago, and we made these wonderful hand stamped cards that we framed up in a wonderful little white frame.  Here is what mine turned out as I picked brighter colors like she likes, and I will be giving this to my mom tomorrow!

Before I was invited to the Stampin' UP party, I had already planned on stitching a small project for my mom.  This is a JBW design called A Tribute which you can personalize for your mom, a friend, or an aunt.  I found a beautiful silver frame from Hobby Lobby that worked perfect for the design.  This project was stitched on 28ct Antique White with the suggested Gentle Arts threads.  I know it looks like the right side of the stitching has more fabric, but it doesn't.  It only looks like that because of the way I was photographing it to not have a reflection in the picture.

May Tusal......

TUSAL is hosted by Sharon of It's Daffycat.  If you want to know more about our little SAL, be sure to click on the picture above or her link highlighted!

I had quite a bit to stuff in my little ORT tin that Pat painted for me long ago.  I just LOVE this little tin as I can store my ORTs in it til it's time to post them on  my blog.  I've been stitching some belated birthday gifts, some gifts for friends this fall, some projects for me and for my mom.

Here is what I have to show for this month's post!!!

I thought I would include with this month's ORT post my bigger jar that these little strands get dumped into!  I will share another photo of the jar later on this year so you can see how much it's getting filled up.  I hope to have it to the top and overflowing this year!  We'll see.

This is just a jar I picked up from Michael's years ago when I started this TUSAL SAL.  I think it works perfectly and what a goal to try and achieve to FILL IT FULL!!!!  What does that mean?  LOTS AND LOTS of stitching time!!!  LOL

Happy Stitching everyone!!!

JN pearl frame update.....

Thank you to all who offered suggestions in helping me find the JN Pearl Frame for Just Nan's 2 small project Pearl Angel and Lavender Angel.  I was able to find those wonderful pearl frames at Judy's Stitchery Nook.

So YEAH!!!  Now I can stitch these 2 up and I'll just say "Happy Mother's Day" to me!!!  LOL

Back to my stitching and sewing for today.  I'm finally getting around to sewing up my Easter dress.  I was going to sew it up for Easter but we were on Spring Break and DH didn't really want to fool with taking dress clothes in for Easter Sunday.  So we just took NICE looking casual clothes for that Sunday.  But here is our daughter and the Easter dress I made for her ..... which mine will look just like hers.  She has a matching hairbow that you can't really see but I always make one to match her dresses!  This was taken at our home church that she attends while going to college!  She's soooo pretty!!!  She beaded the necklace herself and will make me one when she comes back home for the summer to match my dress too!!!

Back to the sewing room now!
