On Friday, DH was off but DS still had to go to school. So DH, DD and I went to a Memorial Day Roll Call on Wright Patterson AFB. It was such a beautiful ceremony. Each cross bears a helmet from the different 20th century uniforms representing the soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice in each of the wars.
In the middle of them all is the soldiers cross. It represents all of the Americans who gave their lives throughout history. You can see it displayed in this picture here.
I pray that everyone takes a moment today to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom today.
Thank you for such a lovely post, Brenda. I feel this day is such a special one - so many have given their lives for us to live in this amazing country. My husband and I took flowers to my step-father's grave - he was a Lt Col. in the Air Force - an amazing man, a true gentleman.
