Memorial Day Remembrance, some patriotic stitching and a contest!

I want to start this Memorial Day post out by remembering those fallen soldiers who have gone before me, served their country with great honor and have died!  I just want to say that I will never forget the sacrifice that they have given for our freedom today!!!

GOD BLESS YOU -- YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!
Today we are spending the day together as a family, remembering and celebrating the meaning of Memorial Day.  I will also be starting a new stitching project for this special day.  Vonna, who does the stitching and finishing for Diane of LHN, posted on Facebook the other day to join in a patriotic SAL.  We are to choose a patriotic chart from either LHN or CCN, gather our supplies and start today.... Memorial Day.  She wanted us to post which chart we were going to start, and we have to stitch it and share a finished picture of it on Facebook on July 4.  Not just a picture of the stitching but I think we are to show it totally finished.

I signed up (who can't resist a NEW START on a holiday -- ME!) and with it being patriotic, I was all excited to join in as I will be able to display it in my Americana room.  I decided I would stitch LHN Old Glory that came out last year.  Oh and we were supposed to share our photos of what chart and supplies we chose for the project on FB.

The first photo shows the better color of the fabric.  I know I have 2 pictures showing what my project will be, but I thought I could turn the HDF threads sideways to show the names of the silk threads I was using.  I think I might have to use some DMC B5200 which is a much brighter white than my HDF Ecru and the HDF White 5201 still didn't show up as well either.  I also wanted to get a picture showing my Dovo Patriotic scissors in there as well for this occasion.  I bought those for myself this past December from The Silver Needle New Year's Eve sale.  And what new project doesn't need a brand NEW unused needle to start out with!  :)

Now......on to the contest portion of this blog post.  I haven't done a contest in a while and I know what the reason is......life has gotten in the way.  So....no more excuses!  This will be for one of my Thread Organizer Packs (T.O.P.s).

Rules are simple:

1. You have to be a follower of my blog.
2.  Post this contest on your blog.
3.  Sign up here and tell me that you posted on your blog.  (I WILL CHECK to make sure!)

I have 2 different patriotic fabrics, and I will mail out of country too if any of my overseas friends want to have one.   Here is what I have chosen this morning.  I just took a picture of the fabrics I pulled out of my stash.

Here is what one looks like and the inside for those of you who want to know WHAT I am talking about a T.O.P.s.  This is an old picture but I love these because they are a great way to hold your floss for those small projects when going somewhere.  There is a piece of felt for your needles and 12 floss bags.

Of course, this is not the same TOPs but here is what the inside looks of another one:

Now I'm off to stitch on my LHN Old Glory but I did want to leave you with one last photo......

Happy Stitching!

  1. I have a hard time keeping up with blogging, and then FB comes second! I will start a patriotic one today too... but not sure I will join the SAL since I never seem to be able to keep up... I have that LHN one on my wish list! I won't enter your giveaway, since I have one of your fantastic TOPs, and use it for one of my favorite WIPs! Love it!

  2. Your patriotic piece selection is a winner, Brenda. What HDF colors are you using? Eventually, this will get stitched and would love to use your conversion.
